It's According to Your Faith

I preached a message on last Sunday titled, “It’s according to your Faith” (Matthew 9:27-32). In the passage there were two blind men following Jesus, “Son of David”, have mercy on us…and Jesus continued walking as though he didn’t hear them, walk straight in the house, but they didn’t stop at the closed door, they went right in after him, that’s a word for many of us going through…..don’t stop at the closed door, continue to pursue him. They knew he could heal them because he had just raised Jairus’ daughter from the dead, and healed the woman with the issue of blood.
When they got in the house Jesus asked, “Do you believe I can do this for you”, and they answered, “yes Lord.” Jesus then told them “According to your faith it is done unto you!” (According to in this passage means “in response to, not in proportion to, it was in response to their faith, not in how much faith they had, that he healed them). I hope you didn’t miss that!!
What marveled me in all of this is they didn’t allow their circumstance to keep them from pursuing him persistently like a nagging child who calls a parent’s name a thousand times until they get an answer. Just because THAT door closes, doesn’t mean there’s no other way to enter!
Another thing, their conversation was different than what I’ve heard and even what I’ve done myself in times when I felt God had gone in and closed the door on my situation. When Jesus asked the questions, they didn’t give him a gamut of excuses and negative responses, for instance, how much is this going to cost me Jesus, will it take a long time, Jesus is this blessing going to get my check and stamps cut off, well Jesus, I’ve been like this a long time, it runs in the family……they just said, “Yes Lord we believe.” Try changing your conversation about your circumstance, you just might like it!
To assist you in that, I will give you what the Holy Spirit gave me. He brought to my memory the game show, “Don’t forget the Lyrics”, where the contestant picks a year/genre of music and sing along and all of sudden the music stops and they are to fill in the blanks, once they remember it they “Lock in the Lyrics”. That’s what we have to remember to do when there are blanks, voids, and mishaps in our lives, lock in the lyrics….”The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want”, I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made, In the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion, There is not condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, I will bless the Lord at all times! Lock in them lyrics, not all that negative junk!
Until next time, be encouraged!
