Fluid on the Heart

I’m writing while sitting in a hospital room with my husband, who had an unplanned surgery on this week. He had his chest opened and over a liter of fluid removed from his heart. Without it, his heart would havecollapsed. Symptoms were present for months; however, medically he was being treated for something totally different. As I continue to praise God for his divine intervention, I’m also reminded of how such can happen in our hearts spiritually.
Our hearts can fill with fluid which presses so heavily upon it that it causes us to lose energy, become short of breath and become frustrated and fearful. The fluids I’m speaking of, are worry, brokenness, lack of self-control, lack of self-esteem, lack of support, recession, depression, hatred, malice, envy, strife, backbiting, dishonesty, etc., all of which can cause severe heart conditions causing spiritual death.
Today, instead of misdiagnosing by way of, blaming everybody else because it’s easier than looking in the mirror and evaluating yourself or trying to self-medicate with revenge and/or simply giving up or giving in, consult a specialist and if he recommends surgery, let him; it might hurt, but it won’t hurt you. Sometimes in life the only way to heal it is to cut it, cut in it, cut around it, and at times, just cut it out!
Jesus is The General Surgeon/That Great Physician, who specializes in all kinds of diseases, the Creator of the heavens, earth, and every living creature including you andI, and since he fearfully and wonderfully made us, we must trust him to fearfully and wonderfully make us over, and over, and over again until we are new in him, nothing missing, nothing lacking. If your symptoms are similar to any that I described above, and you can feel the fluid building up, let God draw it with his word and his love. Tell him to create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you (read Psalm 51). I guarantee you if you will cast it on him, he will carry it for you and make your load lighter and your life brighter!
Until next time, be encouraged!!
